Table Studio!

For the Confetti shot in Photo5, I have set up a Lego scene! Its all done on a mini table studio! So awesome! Here is a picture!

Photo5 shoot!

Today, I met up with Abby, and Joni, at Jonis' house for a Photo5 shoot!

We mucked around with the incense, bubblegum, confetti, and eye dropper!
I used a little Lego man and his car for the Confetti shot! It took a LONG time, and a lot of balancing in awkward positions to get any worthy shot! It was super fun though! We even set the car on fire! Woo hoo!
The bubblegum was fun too! Jonis' sons Dempsey and Joey are so awesome! I got some wacky portraits with the gum! I'm not so sure if they will work... Maybe another gum shoot and get it spot on right? Hopefully! I have about 20 more days til I have to get that one in... Abby and Joni played around with the eye dropper and got some cool shots too!

After that, we tried to clean up! Party poppers and vacuum cleaners don't go together all that well... After we cleaned up, it was off to the library to teach some kids photography! That was a hoot too! And I get to do it next week too! Yay!

I will ponder over the Photo5 shots whether I put them up or not... But they will be up eventually! Whether its afther the comp closes or before... Anyway!

Photo5 is here!

My Photo5 Box arrived in the mail this morning! The briefs are: Eye Dropper, Confetti, Bubble Gum, Incense, and Inspired By Sound! They are going to be a fun challenge!

I have already tried out the eye dropper. Fun! But that first idea isn't going to work I don't think...

EOS.

So, I was reading up on the Canon website about the history of EOS yesterday... There was some cool stuff on there! One thing I found particularly interesting was where the name came from! Of course, EOS is the acronym for Electro Optical System.

However! I also read some more! Not only does EOS stand for Electro Optical System, but EOS is also the name of the Greek Goddess of the Dawn!

Cool huh?!

I was somewhat amazed!

I don't know how many people know this, but I feel very knowledgeable!

EOS Photochains.

The new link in the EOS Photochains competition is Chair. I have been thinking for a couple of days now 'WHAT CAN I DOOOO!?!?!'. Well, it then came to me! Treehouse, Little Stump Seat, Guitar. Here is the result!

Finale Photoshoot.

David came down at about 12:30 for shoot!

We started off with the Caravan Shoot. Just sitting in the door with the guitar! I used my flashes that just arrived with the wireless trigger. I am VERY pleased with them! Especially because the flashes were only $45 each, and the triggers were $75 for both!

Then we went to Joni's house, where Abby was also doing her photoshoot. While she was doing hers I went and set up the soft box! I took some photos there, which had that perfectly over exposed look, with everything white! So nice!

These are the pictures I am using for our exhibition.

I have some more soft box ones to edit, but first, I need to learn how to edit them the way I want them!

I also posed as the Big Bad Wolf for Abby and as the Mad Hatter for Joni!

EOS Photo5.

Last night, I stayed up VERY late, in a vain attempt to be one of the first to register for the EOS Photo5 Competition! I realized that it started on the 10th of September, Australia time... So at two oclock in the morning in NZ. I waited til twelve oclock, NZ time... No registration to be found! So I set my alarm to go off in two hours!

I woke up at eight oclock the next morning, to find I hadn't set my alarm right, or loud enough... Was all hope lost?

No...

It wasn't...

So instead of registering at two oclock, I did it at eight oclock... Not so bad!

My Photo5 box is on the way!!! Photos to come!


Also! I purchased two Seagull SG-100 speedlights with a wireless trigger for both! Can't wait to play with them!!! Yay!

Final Photoshoot.

For the end of term, my class and I are going to do a Final Photoshoot!

We just went to the costume shop today, where we hired some costumes... FOR FREE! Churr!

Abby is doing Red Riding Hood, Keriann is doing some sort of Spanish Dancer thing (I'm not sure really) , Joni is doing Alice In Wonderland! Finally... I am doing a rockstar shoot! I must be the most fuel efficient one in our group, because I only need ONE model! Joni, Abby and Keriann need WAY more!

Should be SUPER fun! If I can get the Bachelors Studio! I think it will still be fun if I can't though!

Athletes Of Rotovegas is DONE!

I met Matt at the BMX track today! Some sick riding went down! Legend! One of my teachers just got a 50D, so she let me use it for the shoot and test its 6.3fps shooting! I was very pleased!

This term.

Over the last term, I, along with two others, have been doing an advanced photography class. Our teacher is Joni! She has been teaching us lots of photoshop skills and all manner of fun, photographic related, activitys!

We had to take photos for Whittakers Chocolate, and Ecostore!

One of our long term projects was to make a book. With a title that includes 'Rotovegas' (Rotorua, Where we live). I am doing 'Athletes Of Rotovegas'. It will have Kayaking, Mountain Biking, and BMX. BMX still to come.

Along with many other projects!

My family!

As you may expect, I do have a real family with real people in it. However, I also have a family of photography gear... Which I love almost as much as my real family... Especially coz it doesn't talk back or order you to hang out the washing or 'pick your socks up off the froor!'. Anyway!

My camera gear family consits of: A mean Canon EOS 350D (Retro digital!) The old standard 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 lens that comes with it (non IS)... I think you can buy those for 99 bucks brand new now, I do love it though! I have a 28-105mm f3.5-4.5 USM lens, and, maybe my favorite lens I have at the moment would be my 50mm f1.8 mark 2 lens. And thats just my DSLR side of my family! I have a couple of tripods! One good Benbo 1 tripod! A sick backpack camera bag! And many other bags I have collected over the year! (note that there is no s at the end of year. Thats right! I have only been doing photography for a year or so!).

I also like to make wee Kayak movies! For that I have a Gopro HD hero... The best helmet camera on the market!
